Hypnotherapy

Explained

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is an effective way to change negative thought patterns, behavioural habits, fears, anxiety and phobias by applying the technique of hypnosis.  Hypnosis is a state of mind connected to deep relaxation and is the suspended state between sleep and conscious awareness.  In this state you can create lasting changes; the body is relaxed and the subconscious mind is encouraged to find solutions to problems by responding to positive therapeutic suggestions, releasing and challenging negative and irrational thoughts and behaviours so that you are able to make the change you desire.

Hypnotherapy is not the same as stage hypnosis

You will not do or say anything that you don’t want to or mimic a farmyard animal.  It is not being asleep, unconscious or out of control.  If you haven’t experienced hypnotherapy, it may surprise you to know that driving somewhere familiar and realising you didn’t remember part of the journey, daydreaming out of the window, or being engrossed in a book or film when you don’t hear people around you are light hypnotic states; hypnotherapy is not staged, it is client led and the process is guided by the therapist.

Helping you make a change

“You can rise up from anything, you can completely recreate yourself, nothing is permanent.  You’re not stuck, you have choices.  You can think new thoughts, you can learn something new, you can create new habits.  All that matters is that you decide today and never look back”!

Hypnotherapy and/or counselling can be life changing.  Therapeutic practice is not a ‘one size fits all’; every person is unique, and the treatment and sessions are led by the client and individualised to their needs.
